Christmas in Jacksonville with Zen Cog

100.7 The Promise supports and honors local business.  After all, we are a local Jacksonville business, too.  Through this season of gift giving we will highlight a few local Jacksonville businesses you might want to check out as you think of great gifts for those on your list…like…

Zen Cog! Garf Cooper opened Zen Cog at 883 Stockton St. in 2009. After working for others in the bicycle industry, he decided he was ready to venture off on his own. Zen Cog is dedicated to the idea that every man, woman, and child deserves the chance to experience the freedom that fresh air and two wheels bring.

They stock bikes for toddlers, kids, and adults; They even have child seats for infants as young as a few months and can outfit mobility-challenged folks with alternative bike styles including recumbents and trikes.

Garf’s motto is “do good work”. Rather than using paid advertisement, Zen Cog relies on word-of-mouth. They reach out to the community, partnering with schools, churches, and other local organizations to “get butts on bikes”.

You can visit Zen Cog’s storefront on Stockton St., or place an order on their website, zencog.com

Garf says the website is like placing a pizza order. You choose the bike and its accessories, and he and his hard-working crew will get it built up and ready for Christmas. Bike pick-up will be available all the way up to Christmas Eve.

The Honey Pot Bike Collective is a non-profit branch of what Zen Cog does. Located on Marie Street, behind Tabula Rasa, they accept donated bikes and parts and repurpose them into needs-based transportation for local homeless shelters, drug rehab centers, single mothers, veterans, and foster homes.
