Go ahead and label me, I’m the type of person that likes to talk to the people I’m sitting next to on a plane.
But the fact is, most of us really don’t like the strangers that are sitting near us, talking to us. You’re already squished into seats that were originally designed for really small people. Average looking people already hardly have enough room to straighten out their legs… I get it… the last thing you want is someone talking to you.
Lucky for you, there’s a way out of unwanted conversations and more arm room. Qantas Airlines is starting a new program where you can spend as little as $20 to have the seat next to you empty. No chitchat, no elbow bumping and not having to pay for a full second fare. Word is, the offer will be made on about a half-dozen domestic routes for six weeks to see how much appetite there is for it.
